Entity clarity: being one unmistakable business

The most underrated visibility work is making sure every system on the internet agrees about who you are.

The confidence problem

Search engines and AI systems assemble a picture of your business from fragments: your website, your Google Business Profile, directory listings, supplier pages, review sites, social profiles, news mentions.

When those fragments agree, confidence rises. When they disagree — an old phone number here, a former address there, a slightly different business name on a directory from 2016 — confidence falls. The practical result can be that another business with clearer information is named instead.

Build a single source of truth

Write one block of text containing your exact business name, address or service-area statement, phone number, hours, and a one-sentence description. Save it somewhere you can copy from.

From that moment on, every profile you create or correct gets copied from that block. Not typed from memory. Copied.

Then go find the disagreements

  • Search your business name in quotes and note every result that describes you.
  • Search your phone number in quotes — this often finds listings you forgot existed.
  • Check old directory profiles, supplier locators and association pages.
  • Correct anything that conflicts. Where you cannot correct it, try to have it removed.

Why this beats clever tactics

Consistency is unglamorous and finishable. Most competitors will never do it, because it feels too basic to matter. That is exactly why it is available to you.
